Memories of Summer Time

Child Hood Memories

I remember summer time as a wonderful time growing up. I remember peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and those pink and white snow ball cakes wrapped up in wax paper and put in my little brown bag. Mt girlfriend and I would walk down to the park and have a picnic, we would swing high and laugh the afternoon away. I remember playing Mother May I, hope scotch and kick the can. What would we do with out child hood memories and the memories of a time long ago. I remember ruining through the grass in the evening and finding the lighting bugs so we could make a ring that would shine for ever.

I can remember my Mother reading her paper in her favorite out door chair, surrounded by her little flower garden........and oh my I just remembered that big gray tub that would sit under out tree in the back yard and if I was good I could put water in it and pretend like it was a little pool. I can remember having my girl friends over and we would take a big blanket and put it over the clothes line and make a tent. I could go on and on but I hope this post makes you stop and remember growing up in a time when we could walk to school . A time we did not have to worry about the man down the street. I wish my grandchildren could go back with me for a day and play games and walk to the park and know how it was when gram was a little girl. The days of my child hood memories.

Have a wonderful summer afternoon..........Sharon K

Thanks for the visit and comment!! I am going to put new baby bunny photos on later today so be sure to stop by for a smile!!
I loved your story of when you were a young girl. I too played Mother May I and made tents with blankets.. and it made me think of my memories of staying out playing in the woods all day with no fear. I wish the world was not so scary for kids today. Thanks for the great story you shared!!

I know what you mean...there used to be more carefree simpler times...where are they now? I miss them too....it seems like there so much more to worry about these days that it's harder to be carefree! That was a sweet post...the snowballs bring back memories...although I don't think I could eat one today and enjoy it...LOL!

Robin

I remember hop scotch, and riding our bicycles all over town, playing hide and seek way after dark...then catching fireflies. Yep...I remember. :) Hi Sharon Kay, Thank you for visiting my garden post. It was a pleasure and I hope you'll return. ~ Lynn

Reading your memories of your childhood made me immediately remember my own. I caught myself daydreaming about them . I too played hopscotch , chinese jump rope , double dutch , I walked to school in kindergarden !! Can you believe that? We'd all go down to the store as a group of very young children & buy penny candy . Life was definitely simpler & people were much more trusting . Sue

I gewq up on a lake out in the country. We used to swim all day, fish, climb trees, camp out in the tent in the yard, catch fireflies..

Thanks for stirring up wonderful memories..

Sounds like wonderful memmories. I have many similar to yours...A simple swing made me feel like I was flying to all the special places of my dreams.
Also making a beautiful doll house (in my eyes of course) out of a cardboard box was enough to keep me busy for days.
No worries...A very good time.

Hugs,

Ah, I have some wonderful childhood memories. Some are of growing up spending summers with my grandparents on Clear Lake, Indiana. That's probably where I get my love of being near water. At home, the neighborhood kids all hung out and we rode our bikes, played hide and seek and kick the can, and we made up clubs. It seems we were never bored and we didn't even have computers or cell phones or video games. Heck, we couldn't even get any more than three channels on the TV! What a time of innocence and for being so carefree! Thanks for sharing and bringing back memories. We made those clothesline tents too, or made them inside by draping blankets over the cart table, lol.
