Remember When................

It is Friday afternoon and I am staying in the house this afternoon and evening. It is close to zero out side , the fireplace is on and I just finished a good book while covered up with a nice warm throw ( The Gift ) By Richard Paul Evans It was a very good book and I would recommend to any who enjoys reading like I do.

To those of you who have not visited Mary from http://isabellascloset.blogspot.com/%20the blog isabellascloset please do so. She is a wonderful person and her blog is such fun to read. She has a lot of talent in so many areas so please say hi and see all the items she has for sale. I have one of her banners on this blog.............Thank you Mary... Is there any one out there that can remember playing paper dolls? I have many memories of siting in my family living room when I was a little girl and playing paper dolls for hours. When a girl friend came over and we played with the paper dolls I can remember dressing them up for the dance and of course to do a little shopping. What fun and what memories of how it use to be. I am going to call my paper doll Sara, and she is going to church on a chilly Sunday morning
She will wear her new coat that her mother made for her . She has a new blue hat with a pretty feather to go with it of course.
The dress above will be worn to her friends birthday party this Saturday. Her friends name is Lilly and they will have fun playing games and having birthday cake. The pretty dress below will be worn at her aunt's wedding. What a fun day that will be for Sara, she will get to be the flower girl and drop rose buds as she goes down the isle. I had so much fun playing with the paper dolls that Mary sent to me. And a big thank you to all the girl friends that came over on a cold Friday after noon to sit with me while we remember when................................Sharon K

Oh, I loved this post, Sharon. I have such fond, wonderful memories of paper dolls. My most special memory is when I was little I used to get earaches all the time. As you can imagine they were very painful and I felt very, very bad. Well, my sweet Mama would buy me some paper dolls and she would sit on my bed and we would play for hours! I haven't thought about that in a long time and I'm glad you reminded me of it, it put a smile on my face and in my heart, too. Stay warm, my friend! Hugs, Susan P.

I used to love playing paper dolls...If I did not have the kind that you bought at the bookstore, then I would get the old catalogs out and cut out entire families. The stories I made up would rival any soap opera...LOL!

Have a great day!

I love paper dolls too!
My mom especially did when she was growing up in the 1930's...and because of her talking so much about them, I sometimes put aside my Barbies to play with them, too...

Now, I occasionally get them for my own girls!
I've gotten American Girl paper dolls for my oldest, which have all the old fashioned clothes to go with them...and even some Presidential family ones!

Such a fun, sweet way for little girls to pass the time on a cold, rainy day.

Loved this post! Have a blessed Sunday!

Paper dolls were something to look forward to when you were sick, or just any old day....my kids use to love them too....especially the ones with formals....now paper dolls are metal, with magnets, and I bought those for my granddaughter, and I don't think she was impressed....to spoiled with the real doll thing....I guess we have to expect change... love your dolls sharon.....judy

I LOVE paper dolls! My 10 year old daughter and I had a paper doll tea party for an 80 year old lady in our church just before Christmas. We all had such a fun time. I had copied some of my antique ones for our friend, Helen, and we just dressed and played all afternoon. Where can you find paper dolls now?
